Charitable softball tournament at Aviation Sports Complex to benefit the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta

On April 26th in Marietta, Georgia, the brave men and women of six public safety teams, including Marietta Fire, Marietta Police, Smyrna Police, Smyrna Fire, and others, will face off in the 3rd annual Marietta Softball Classic.  The charity tournament event will be hosted by The 6-4-3 Foundation at Aviation Sports Complex in Marietta (455 Aviation Road, Marietta, GA 30060).  The 2015 Marietta Softball Classic is a fun, one day, tournament event benefiting the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta.  The wonderful mission of the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta is to provide assistance to families of law enforcement officers and firefighters killed or injured in the line of duty.  All proceeds and collected donations from the Marietta Softball Classic will be given to the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta.  Games will begin at 10:00am on Sunday, April 26th at Aviation Sports Complex.

The six participating teams will be competing for serious bragging rights and to support a worthy cause.  Last year the defending champion, Marietta Fire Department, claimed the 2014 tournament championship (and added bragging rights) by edging the Smyrna Fire Department in the final out of the final game.  Even more exciting than the championship finish was the successful raising of $1,400 for the Wounded Warrior Project.  J.D. Hill, Assistant Chief with the Marietta Fire Department and co-organizer of the event, commented, “Last year’s tournament was another great example of how people can come together for a good cause. We look forward to another awesome tournament this April!”

There are two important ways that the community can support this exciting event.  First, corporations and individuals can donate financial support to this event and the benefitting charity by calling the 6-4-3 offices at 678.354.3199.  Second, the public is invited to attend the softball tournament and cheer on the officers and fire personnel from the great communities of Marietta and Smyrna.  “We are very excited about the camaraderie this event promotes between our public safety brothers and sisters and look forward to the future success of our efforts to support the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta,” stated Major Steve Kish with the Marietta Police Department and co-organizer of the event.

Through a financial donation or with your presence in the stands on April 26th, please consider supporting the 2015 Marietta Softball Classic to benefiting the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta.
