This winter...6-4-3 SERVES!

Cobb County, Georgia

This past January 22nd on behalf of The 6-4-3 Foundation, a group of 16-year-old 6-4-3 DP Baseball players volunteered at the 2017 Special Olympics Georgia State Indoor Winter Games. Like in 2016, the group from The 6-4-3 Foundation was assigned to the men's basketball tournament held in Smyrna, Georgia.  6-4-3's 16U players were split into two groups and assigned to run the scoreboard, keep game statistics, and cheer for the competing athletes.

According to volunteer Mitchell O'Berry, member of the 16U Jaguars team and student at Pace Academy, "Helping out with the Special Olympics Winter Games was a great experience.  Working alongside my 6-4-3 academy mates, I enjoyed helping other athletes have the opportunity to compete in a big event."  When asked about the display of basketball ability, O'Berry further commented, "I watched some good basketball on the court from my post at the scorer's table.  I was impressed by the passion and focus of the competiting athletes and their commitment to team play.  I enjoyed watching the games...it was fun."

While it was a wonderful day helping to ensure the dedicated athletes competing in the Special Olympics Georgia Indoor Winter Games had an excellent tournament experience, the day was also filled by valuable lessons for all from the participants on the court about competing to the very best of your abilities and doing so with class.  A very hearty congratulations from The 6-4-3 Foundation goes out to all participating athletes on the basketball court during the 2017 Special Olympics Georgia State Indoor Winter Games!
