COACHES COMMENTS:
Matt is a very athletic young man and a great teammate. Matthew is a LHP that continues to get batter. On the mound, Matt is very comfortable and has a lot of confidence. He has the mentality and physical ability to get out top hitters consistently. He works quick and misses barrels often. He commands a deceptive fastball that has late run. He uses it to pitch in and is very affective with it. He has a late, sharp breaking ball that is difficult to pick up. He often uses it to tie up right handed hitters inside and gets an “oops” swing from left handed hitters. He throws this pitch in all counts. His change is very effective and makes his fastball even more effective. He throws all three very comfortably and in all counts, keeping hitters off balance. Matt has a very effective pickoff move, and he knows how to get extra outs on the bases and stop the running game. He fields his position extremely well and takes his job personal. As Matthew continues to get stronger, he will play at the next level for a top college program.
Matt has verbally committed to play college baseball at Furman University in Greenville, SC.
