Payton is a 2017 C/MIF out of West Forsyth HS that brings athletic tools to the field everyday. He has quickness and strength in his game, and this allows him to be a versatile defender up the middle and a dynamic offensive player. Behind the plate, Peyton is very quick. This allows him to cover ground when blocking the baseball. He has a strong arm and a very quick release, which gives him potential to shut down the running game. In the infield, Payton is comfortable on both sides of the bag, and has excellent range and actions. At the plate, Payton takes strong swings, and when he connects he can do damage on the offensive side. He has good pop for his size, and can also be a threat on the bases thanks to a quick first step. Payton has all the tools to succeed at the next level, and will be a key contributor in the classroom and on the baseball field at Piedmont College.
