COACHES COMMENTS:
Wood is a C/3B/1B that is a physical presence on the field. He is not just a big body player though, as he shows great skills and a veteran aptitude wherever he plays. Defensively, he is quiet behind the plate and blocks very well, showing good range. He shows a solid arm that is enhanced by quick feet and clean exchange. His soft hands and good footwork help also at 3B and 1B. Wood's hitting ability has been known about for years, and he keeps getting better. He creates great extension, is always balanced at the plate, and is a very smart hitter who will hit at high levels. Wood is a model person as well, and will be a great asset to top schools very soon.
Wood has committed to play college baseball with Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.
