6-4-3 DP Cougars 18U win PG Fall Classic Upperclass Championship

Marietta, GA (Cobb County)

Congratulations to the 6-4-3 DP Cougars 18U squad for winning the PG Fall Classic Upperclass Championship.  According to head coach TJ Pagan, the winning weekend was possible due to a strong, total team effort.  Cooper Haseley, David Sickles, Nate Shipley, and Reid Robertson all pitched extremely well in pool play.  After earning a 2-0 pool play record, the 18U Cougars landed the #2 seed with no runs against. Severin Halvorsen, Carson Bennink, and Tommy Odell also pitched well for the Cougars in the quarterfinal game. In the semifinal game, Ben Medley threw four scoreless innings to start things off on the right track for the Cougars. Then Jackson Denney entered the game in relief and pitched extremely well. Down 2-1 going into bottom of the 7th inning, the Cougars’ Kyle D'Amour provided a clutch 1-out double and later stole third. D'Amour then executed a straight steal of home to tie the game. In extra innings, Cougars’ Jack Fergusson helped the Cougars walk it off and advance to the championship game!

In the championship game versus the ECB 18u Colt 45's, Austin Clark, Ian Mayes and Daniel Crabtree turned in a strong, combined outing on the mound as a pitching corps.  Down 3-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Jackson Brown doubled off the wall to reach scoring position. Then Reid Robertson tied the game with an inside the park homerun!  Relief specialist John Armstrong came in to pitch and held the game in check with lights out stuff. Back on offense, it was Adam Love who got things going by reaching base safely and stealing both second and third base.  It was the Cougars’ Mark Tucker who fueled the Cougars’ walk off victory with his sacrifice fly!

Congratulations again to the 18U Cougars players for their on-field success this past weekend!
