6-4-3 DP Baseball’s 10U Cougars win USSSA Jay Criscione Super NIT Tournament

Congratulations to the 10U Cougars’ players and coaches for winning the 2014 USSSA Jay Criscione South Carolina Super NIT in Lexington, South Carolina this past weekend.  It was the Cougars second consecutive tournament victory in as many weeks. 

 

The 10U Cougars began pool play with their third consecutive no hit pitching performance as Cooper Davidson and Harrison Weber combined for a four inning masterpiece to capture a 13-0 win.  In the Cougars second pool game, AJ DeMastrie logged three RBI and Ramsey Robertson collected three hits to back up strong pitching from DeMastrie and Logan Geter to fuel another win by the score of 12-4.  The Cougars finished pool play as the number two seed in the 17 team field.

 

In bracket play, Zeke Moore contributed a run scoring triple in the third inning that proved crucial to the Cougars win by the score of 10-5.  Cooper Davidson contributed stellar relief pitching for the Cougars with 2 2/3 strong innings of work. Bernard Moon took the mound in the second bracket game for the Cougars against Team Rawlings and pitched three solid innings as the team built a 9-2 lead.  Team Rawlings battled back to tie the game at nine runs a piece before Braden Pierce came through with an RBI single to put 6-4-3 ahead in the fourth inning.  KK Towe contributed two hits and three RBI in the game and earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of stellar relief to close out the game. 

 

In the semifinal game, Braden Pierce took the mound for 6-4-3 and held the Gameday Shockwave to one run over three efficient innings to collect the win.  The Cougars offense was dominant form the start in this contest as Kenton Collier led off the game with a triple followed by a double by Geter and an RBI triple by Carson Kerse. Ryan Novak also contributed an RBI double in the eight run first inning and closed out the game on the mound with a scoreless inning of work. 

 

Kenton Collier started the championship game on the mound for the Cougars and was in top form while throwing a three hit shutout and collecting six strikeouts over four innings to propel 6-4-3 to its championship victory by the score of 10-0.  Congratulations to 6-4-3 DP Baseball's 10U Cougars for their stellar weekend performance and resulting championship victory.
