6-4-3 DP Baseball's 11U Cougars squad wins Triple Crown North Atlanta Open (Gold Bracket)

Marietta, Georgia -

The 6-4-3 DP Baseball Cougars (11U) wrapped up Mother’s Day weekend with a 2-1 victory over Team Elite Black in the Triple Crown North Atlanta Open to capture the Gold Bracket Championship.

The weekend started well for the 11U Cougars on Friday night at Aviation Sports Complex with a 2-0 record in Pool Play.   The 11U Cougars were seeded second in the Gold bracket where they were matched against the Team Georgia Baseball Academy (TGBA)–Warriors to start the elimination round of the tournament.  The 11U Cougar bats were hot to kick off bracket play.  The offense was led by Cooper Dickson with a double, Drew Bray with a triple and Jared Jones with a home run. The 11U Cougars defeated the TGBA–Warriors by the score of 8 to 3 to advance into the semi-finals to face the East Cobb Pride.

The 11U Cougars managed to cut short a late inning rally by the Pride and claimed a 9-6 victory to advance to the Gold Bracket Championship game versus Team Elite Black.   Strong pitching and defensive play were key for the 11U Cougars’ successful weekend.  Great pitching performances were contributed by Reece Robertson, Wyatt Strahl, Caleb Nix and Champ Davis.  Consistent defensive play by the team was on display as well as the 11U Cougars only committed one error over the weekend and succesfully turned two double plays over the tournament.

Congratulations to the 11U Cougars' players and coaches for their strong weekend performance and tournament title!
