Congratulations and thank you to all teams who participated in our Summer Invitational event. The weather was hot and the competition great all weekend.
Special congratulations to the East Cobb Eagles and NSTA Naturals who battled their way into the championship game. Both teams fought hard in this weather delayed game that ended late Sunday night, with the East Cobb Eagles taking the championship by the score of 12-7.

On Friday, June 24, the 2016 6-4-3 Summer Invitational tournament kicks off in Marietta, Georgia. The weekend tournament event will feature ten teams in the under-16 age group. All tournament games will be played in Marietta at Aviation Sports Complex located at 455 Aviation Road or at The Walker School located at 700 Cobb Parkway North.
Best of luck to all participating teams: Team DeMarini National, 6-4-3 DP Tigers, East Cobb Eagles, Team DeMarini American, 6-4-3 DP Jaguars, 6-4-3 DP Cougars, NSTA Naturals, East Cobb Cardinals, Team DeMarini/NSTA, and the Chattanooga Mustangs.

Tournament Rules:
- National Federation rules will govern play except where otherwise provided in these rules.
- Major League Baseball (MLB) rules govern pitching visits and changes (pitcher will be replaced on the second visit in any inning).
- Umpires will be provided with game cards to record final scores and pitching. The head coaches are required to sign the card at the conclusion of each game.
- Tournament Format – 4 pool games with the top 2 teams from each pool playing semi-finals (A1 v B2 and B1 v A2) to a championship. Tie-breaker to be used within each pool to determine the teams that will advance is 1) Record; 2) Head-to-Head; 3) Run Differential (+7/-7); Runs Allowed; Runs Scored; and Coin Flip. Regarding Head-to-Head, if 3 teams in the same pool finish pool play with the same record, then one of those teams must have beaten the other two teams in order for the Head-to-Head tie-breaker to be used. If this is not the case, then Head-to-Head will be thrown out and Run Differential will be the next tie-breaker used.
- A player may pitch a maximum of 6 innings over the duration of the tournament. Once the pitcher toes the rubber and makes 1 pitch to a live batter, that will constitute an inning pitched.
- All games will have a time limit of 2 hours, except for the championship. The championship game will be 7 innings with no time limit, but mercy rules will apply.
- Teams will provide game balls for each game (at least 2 new and 1 used ball).
- International Tie-Breaker (runner who was the last batted out of prior inning will be placed at second base) will be used for all pool games which end in a tie after regulation and prior to the expiration of time. Once time elapses, the inning will be concluded and the game ends. Regarding the semi-finals and championship games, should a game end in a tie after regulation, then the international tie-breaker will be utilized until a winner is determined.
- Mercy Rule: 15 runs after 4 innings; 10 runs after 5 innings; 8 runs after 6 innings.
- Coin flip will determine the home team for all games.
- Teams may utilize a DH, an EH and/or XH for lineups. Teams may also bat all players in a game. If a team elects the DH/EH/XH they must use a roster substitute as courtesy runners. If a team elects to bat their lineup they will use the last batted out as courtesy runners.
- Players may use -3 metal BBCOR or wood bats.
- Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, the Tournament Director reserves the right to modify any aspect of the tournament / game format.
- If a coach is ejected from a game and leaves the field immediately and without incident, then they will be able to coach in the team’s next scheduled game. If a coach is ejected from a game and fails to immediately leave the field and/or causes an incident, then they will not be permitted to participate in any remaining games of the team for the remainder of the tournament. All decisions are at the discretion of the umpires officiating the game in which the ejection occurred and the Tournament Director.
- Protests: A team may file a protest on rules violations or player eligibility only. Protests will not be accepted regarding any judgment calls made by umpires. Only the Head Coach of a team will permitted to file a protest. To file a protest, a one hundred dollar ($100.00) cash payment will be made to the Tournament Director, along with an explanation of the rule violation in question immediately upon presumed violation occurring. Upon filing of the protest, the final ruling will be rendered as quickly as all facts can be determined. If the final decision supports the team filing the protest, then the $100.00 protest fee will be returned to the team and the appropriate sanction will be invoked. If the final decision does not support the team filing the protest, then the protest fee will be forfeited.
