The 6-4-3 Foundation supports H.A.S. Foundation to expand scholarship impact

Marietta, Georgia -

The 6-4-3 Foundation, the charitable arm of 6-4-3 DP Athletics, is pleased to announce its decision to financially support the Cobb County-based H.A.S. Foundation in the form of a 2018 community grant.  The 2018 grant will mark the first opportunity for The 6-4-3 Foundation to invest in and support the scholarship efforts of the H.A.S. foundation.

David Carr, acting executive director of The 6-4-3 Foundation, shared his thoughts on the announcement.  “Our strategic support of the H.A.S. Foundation and its efforts to unlock recreational team participation for underserved youth is a very exciting development for The 6-4-3 Foundation and its board of directors.  For some time, we have sought out ways to diversify our types of scholarship offerings across multiple sports and focus on the recreational youth athlete.  Thanks to the work of H.A.S. and Mary Litman, we are able to expand the impact of our scholarship investments in the local community, do so in the recreational sports space, and do so quickly.  The H.A.S. Foundation’s mission is squarely in line with our foundation’s mission.  Together, we look forward to enhancing the lives of children in Cobb County.”

The H.A.S. Foundation, which stands for Helping Athletes Score, was founded in March 2015 to provide need-based scholarships to young athletes in Cobb County.  The mission of H.A.S. is to make sure any athlete who wants to play a recreational team sport in the Cobb community, regardless of household financial situation, doesn't have to sit on the sideline and watch the other kids score.  H.A.S. awards scholarships to eligible athletes, living or playing in Cobb County, who want to participate in recreational leagues that offer baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball.  The H.A.S. Foundation’s goal is to provide a funding source so those kids who want to play are not held back by circumstances beyond their control.  H.A.S. believes in the benefits of team sports including exercise, teamwork, and the development of leadership and social skills.

The 6-4-3 Foundation, the charitable arm of 6-4-3 DP Athletics, operates as an independent entity.  The 6-4-3 Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Georgia not-for-profit corporation created in 2013.  The 6-4-3 Foundation’s mission is to enhance the lives of children and families through sportsThe foundation focuses on three primary areas of charitable support: scholarship assistance programs, community improvement and outreach efforts, and volunteer service projects.
