David Carr exits role as 6-4-3's longtime head of operations

Marietta, Georgia (Cobb County)

As planned with the 6-4-3 DP Athletics ownership group and previously communicated, David Carr is leaving his operations role with 6-4-3 today.  Rush Eskridge, Jay Andrews, and Danny Pralgo remain as the capable management team of 6-4-3.

David Carr’s fingerprints are all over 6-4-3’s business units, facility, charitable foundation, and staff.  In 2009, David began working on the plans that would later become the 6-4-3 organization that is operating out of Aviation Sports Complex in Marietta, Georgia.  In 2010, David launched 6-4-3 DP Athletics with partners Danny Pralgo, Jay Andrews, and Ryan Sterling.  David served 6-4-3 part-time until joining the operations full-time in April of 2013. During David’s long tenure with 6-4-3, the organization has proudly achieved the following:

  • 6-4-3 DP Athletics was launched and moved into Aviation Sports Complex (2010)
  • 6-4-3’s charitable arm, The 6-4-3 Foundation, was launched (2013)
  • 556 6-4-3 players have earned the opportunity to play college baseball
  • 35 players from the 6-4-3 organization have been selected in the MLB Draft or signed as a free agent
  • 2023 marked the 11th consecutive year that a 6-4-3 alum, or current player, was selected in the MLB Draft
  • Three 6-4-3 alums made their MLB debuts: Kent Emanuel/Astros, Sean Guenther/Marlins, and Drew Waters/Royals.
  • Currently, one 6-4-3 alum is on an active MLB roster (Drew Waters/Royals) and four other 6-4-3 alums are non-roster invitees to 2024 spring training with MLB clubs
  • In total, fourteen 6-4-3 alums are in spring training camps with MLB or MiLB affiliates in 2024

David Carr began coaching with East Side Baseball serving as head coach of both recreational and travel programs in the14U age group for three seasons. In 2002, David served as the head coach of the East Cobb Knights (14U), the 2002 runner-up finisher in the Georgia AAU State Tournament and IBC World Series. From 2003 to 2005, David joined forces with Danny Pralgo as an assistant coach with the 14U East Cobb Astros. The 2004 season was a special one as the talented Astros team won the PONY League World Series title and claimed a season ending #1 national ranking by USA Sports Rankings. After a year hiatus, David teamed up again with Pralgo in 2007 to coach the successful East Cobb Cougars 15U team. With the creation of the 6-4-3 DP Baseball Academy in 2007, David continued on with Pralgo as an instructor and assistant coach. Over the academy’s inception and evolution to 6-4-3 DP Athletics, David worked with a variety of teams with athletes ranging from 9 to 18 years of age.  Eventually, David moved off the field and into the office full-time and served as 6-4-3’s head of operations.

For his many years of leadership and dedication to evolving the 6-4-3 organization successfully and with professionalism, we are extremely grateful for David Carr.  Please join us in wishing David the very best in his future endeavors.  Lucky for us, David plans to remain on the board of The 6-4-3 Foundation.

The Staff of 6-4-3 DP Athletics

Personal note from David Carr:

Launching 6-4-3 DP Baseball at Aviation Sports Complex has been a professional thrill for me.  I am grateful to Danny Pralgo, Jay Andrews, the 6-4-3 staff members (both past and present), and the many talented players, dedicated coaches, and supportive parents who have contributed to 6-4-3’s early and on-going success as a best-in-class baseball academy.  I thank you all for making 6-4-3 what it is today.  I leave my role in operations with immense satisfaction for what the 6-4-3 brand has become and for the collective dedication and effort over the years that made it so.  As a new chapter of life unfolds for my family, I will be cheering for 6-4-3 from afar.  I also look forward to continuing my volunteer work with The 6-4-3 Foundation.

With gratitude and #643pride,

David
