Since its creation in 2007, 6-4-3 DP Baseball has experienced many reasons to celebrate. In our relatively short existence as a best-in-class baseball academy, over 450 student-athletes (and counting) from 6-4-3 have earned the opportunity to play collegiate baseball! In addition, 30 players within the 6-4-3 organization have been selected in the MLB Draft from 2008-2022!
The 2022 MLB Draft (July 17-19) was another significant and historic event for the 6-4-3 organization. 2022 is the tenth consecutive year that a 6-4-3 player/alum has been drafted!
6-4-3 extends a hearty congratulations to Druw Jones (6-4-3 Class of 2022) for being selected 2nd overall in the 1st round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. As a prep athlete, Jones starred at the Wesleyan School and 6-4-3 DP Baseball for many years (age 12-17). Druw Jones is now the highest drafted player in 6-4-3's history having been selected with the 2nd overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. Notes: Drew Waters was taken 41st overall in the 2017 MLB Draft and is now the 2nd highest drafted 6-4-3 player in the organization's history. Kent Emanuel was taken 74th overall in the 2013 MLB Draft and is now the 3rd highest drafted player in 6-4-3 history. Ryan Webb is now the 4th highest drafted player in 6-4-3's history having been selected with the 125th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. Carson Taylor was taken 130th overall in the 2020 MLB Draft and is now the 5th highest drafted player in 6-4-3 history. Brant Hurter was taken 195th overall in the 2021 MLB Draft and is now the 6th highest drafted player in 6-4-3 history. Kevin Smith was taken 200th overall in the 2018 MLB Draft and is now the 7th highest drafted player in 6-4-3 history.
6-4-3 also extends a hearty congratulations to Andrew Jenkins (6-4-3 Class of 2019 and 1B for Georgia Tech) for being selected in the 9th round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers with the 267th overall pick. As a prep athlete, Jenkins played for Pace Academy and 6-4-3 DP Baseball from the age of 14-18. Jenkins is coming off a tremendous 2022 season with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Jenkins is the second 6-4-3 alum drafted by the Detroit Tigers in as many years. In 2021, the Tigers drafted Andrew's Georgia Tech teammate, Brant Hurter (LHP / 6-4-3 Class of 2017).
6-4-3 would also like to congratulate former players Mason Barnett (RHP / Auburn) and Brett Roberts (SS / Florida State) who were also selected in the 2022 MLB Draft!
Being selected in the MLB Draft is a tremendous accomplishment and honor for hardworking, talented, and dedicated young men and their supportive families. The MLB Draft also offers a tremendous source of pride for the 6-4-3 DP Baseball organization when one our own is validated with an opportunity to become a professional baseball player. 6-4-3 is incredibly proud of the young men who have had their name called in the MLB Draft or earned a contract from an MLB team.
