Ty Floyd and LSU Baseball win national championship in Omaha

On Monday June 26, 2023, Ty Floyd and his LSU teammates won the NCAA DI Men’s College World Series after winning the Championship Series over Florida in Omaha, Nebraska.  The 2023 championship is the 7th in LSU Baseball history.  Ty Floyd is the 1st 6-4-3 alumnus to win a NCAA DI baseball national championship title.

In the words of Kirby Koch on lsusports.net, “Ty Floyd tossed a gem on the mound in Game 1 of the College World Series Championship Series, firing 8.0 innings while allowing three runs on five hits with one walk and 17 strikeouts.  The 17 strikeouts by Floyd are the most by any LSU pitcher in the CWS.  Floyd’s 17 strikeouts also tied the CWS record for the most Ks by a pitcher in a game prior to extra innings.”

Ty Floyd is a member of 6-4-3 DP Baseball’s Class of 2020.  A talented two-way player, Floyd was a very athletic prep player, dedicated student, and great teammate.  After joining 6-4-3 as a 13-year-old player, Floyd’s arm evolved over the years from very good to electric.  Over 5 seasons, Floyd was a model student-athlete for 6-4-3 Jaguars, Tigers, and Cougars teams.

As an organization, 6-4-3 is thrilled for Ty (and his teammates).  6-4-3 is also immensely proud of Ty and his accomplishments on the mound.  Most importantly, it is an absolute joy for us to watch Ty pitch and compete!

Congratulations to Ty Floyd and the entire LSU Baseball team on their 2023 national championship!
