6-4-3 DP Baseball’s 12U Cougars Win PG Backyard Brawl

Marietta, Georgia (Cobb County)

The 6-4-3 DP Cougars 12U squad showed great resiliency and tremendous character in winning the 12U Perfect Game Backyard Brawl Gold Championship.  With dominant pitching and timely hitting, the Cougars started the tournament with a perfect 2-0 record earning the top overall seed in bracket play.

Great pitching continued on Sunday as the 12U Cougars gutted out a tremendous character victory in the semifinals.  Down 4-1, with 2 outs in their final at-bat, the Cougars found themselves without a base runner and down to their final strike.  Amazing patience at the plate combined with a “never say die” attitude allowed the Cougars to rally together and produce an exciting walk-off finish.  All told, the Cougars were down to their final strike five times in the inning, but put together competitive at-bats and refused to give in or be overwhelmed by the moment.  The Cougars then used that momentum to cruise to a convincing win in the championship game to finish the tournament with a 5-0 record.

Key individual performances came from Evan Brand and Hudson Chadwick.  Evan was named tournament MVP.  Hudson was named tournament Most Valuable Pitcher and also had the clutch, walk-off hit in the semifinal game.  Congratulations to the coaches and all players of the 6-4-3 DP Cougars 12U team for their strong weekend showing!
