6-4-3 DP Baseball’s 12U Jaguars Finish Runner-up in Grand Slam Hobgood Home Run Derby Tournament

Marietta, Georgia (Cobb County)

Congratulations to the 6-4-3 DP Jaguars 12U squad for finishing runner-up in the Grand Slam Hobgood Home Run Derby Tournament May 1-2.  The Jaguars finished 1-1 in pool play on Saturday setting up bracket play as the 4th seed.  The Jaguars easily handled the Outlaws 11-3 in the quarterfinals then earned a decisive win against the Sequoyah Chiefs 11-2 in the semifinals, who beat the Jaguars the day before.  Aaron Best threw a 5-inning complete game giving up only 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 strikeouts.  Aaron helped himself at the plate with a grand slam in the second inning to give the Jaguars an insurmountable 7-0 lead. The Jaguars fell short in the final to the Polecats to finish as runner-up ending the weekend with a 3-2 overall record.

The Jaguars' weekend was full of 2-out hits, a well-executed squeeze play, diving catches in the field, a perfect 4-6-3 double play, first base pick offs, several runners thrown out stealing by catchers and other contributions by each player.  Congrats again to the Jaguars coaches and players for their fine weekend performance as a team!
