6-4-3 DP Baseball's 13U Cougars win PG 54/80 Peach State Showdown

Marietta, Georgia (Cobb County)

Congratulations to the 6-4-3 DP Cougars 13U squad for a strong weekend of baseball and winning the 13U Perfect Game 54/80 Peach State Showdown!  On Mother's Day, the Cougars defeated the talented St. Louis Pirates in the championship game by the score of 13-7.  Congratulations also to Joe Montembeau who won the event’s Most Valuable Player award (his 2nd consecutive PG Tournament MVP honor) after going 8 for 10 at the plate with 12 RBI for the Cougars. 

The weekend was a strong showing by the entire Cougars squad.  Gabriel Hester finished the weekend 12 for 15 at the plate with 9 RBI and included an 11 for 11 hitting streak to start the tournament.  Braden Goolsby contributed 2 homeruns (both grand slams) and 9 RBI in a 24-0 pool play game.  Additional homeruns were launched by Isander Poventud, Jack Rees, and Joe Montembeau.  Gabe Hester, Poventud, Montembeau, Trey Luke, Will Forte and Clay Herring all logged terrific pitching performances.  The Cougars also played tremendous defense, lead by Forte, Kolby Martin, Kalon Davis, Sean Walsh, Thomas Williams and Lofton Brown.
