6-4-3 DP Baseball’s High School Team – Mid-Season Report

Marietta, Georgia (Cobb County)

By Tucker Breen (Head Coach)

The inaugural season of 6-4-3 DP Baseball’s alternative high school baseball team is off to a great start. The league is comprised of 12 teams, from 10 local travel baseball organizations, for all high school aged kids. 6-4-3's high school team is for players being homeschooled, for players that do not make their high school’s roster, and for other players with varying circumstances.  The 6-4-3 team is off to a 9-4-2 start to begin the spring season. Below are summary highlights of the players and their contributions at their respective positions.

In the infield, Patrick McCavitt has made the biggest impact on the infield as a lockdown defender. Right behind him is his brother, Michael McCavitt, contributing at second base, shortstop, and third base. Wesley Moore, Ryan Wideman, and Corey Brown have all played a great first base. Other notable contributors in the infield include Jake Levinson, Gabe Sanford, Daniel Akbari, Gio D’Alesio, Alex Grama, and Cole Williams.

In the outfield, Ryan Wideman and Josh Arneson have held down the centerfield position primarily. Both players have plus arms and make a big difference controlling the outfield. In the corner outfield positions, Corey Brown, Gabe Sanford, Hudson Parker, and Lucas Bascunan have shared time. Providing added depth behind them are Guy Underwood, Kaleb Ornay, and Ryne Zendzian.

Behind the plate, Bo Richey is the team’s go-to guy for big games. Bo has done a great job working with our pitchers, controlling the field, and throwing runners out on the basepaths. Providing depth at the catching position are Gio D’Alesio and Zek Ehlers. Both have done a nice job and have been working extremely hard.

On the pitching side, we have had many contributors so far. Ryan Wideman, David Lovell, and Wesley Moore are the guys to throw in big games. All of them have done a good job of holding some of the best hitters in the league in check. Charley Plummer, Lucas Bascunan, Ryne Zendzian, and Hudson Parker have also pitched in a starting role. Our reliever corps includes Aiden Wojtczak, Corey Brown, Gabe Sanford, Guy Underwood, Josh Arneson, Kaleb Ornay, and Michael McCavitt.

At the plate, we have many hitters making a big difference for us. In the first 15 games as a team, we are hitting right at the .300 mark with 124 runs scored, 20 doubles, 10 triples, and 2 homeruns. On the basepaths, we have a total of 60 stolen bases. Below are some notable stat lines for the team’s offensive production:

Patrick McCavitt- .424, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 8 BB, 8 SB

Jake Levinson- .371, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 9 RBI, 5 HBP, 10 SB
